Falkirk play their first home league match tomorrow as they welcome Dumbarton to the Falkirk stadium. The bairns ill be looking for their first league win of the season following a dull 0-0 draw at Peterhead. Falkirk were in control for the first half hour of the game but after that, they lost this. They did not look like scoring and created very little chances and could have been punished if they were up against a competent strike force for the hosts. Dumbarton lost their opening league game against Raith Rovers in what was a sloppy match with both teams looking poor. One of the league’s favourites for promotion got their goal late on in the match through Grant Anderson after both teams missed several good chances. Dumbarton are expected to be a lower mid table side and are one of the favourites for relegation but have done well in recruitment this summer. They have brought in some championship quality players like Stefan McCluskey and former bairn, Joe McKee who spent the last two and a half seasons at Westfield. Although, arguably better than those signings is the fact that Dumbarton have been able to hold on to midfielders Stuart Carswell and Kyle Hutton amid interest from Championship clubs for the talented central midfielders. This week, Falkirk have also recruited left sided versatile player, Lewis Moore on loan from Hearts and the resigning of Louis Longridge, who’s last Falkirk goal was against Dumbarton in April 2018. Mark Durnan is likely to miss out on the match following last week’s match where he had to go off injured due to a hamstring problem. Ross Maclean is back in training this week but is again unlikely to be in the matchday squad following an injury that has kept him out for the last few weeks. There’s a few connections between the current teams. Falkirk captain, Gregor Buchanan used to be a regular starter for Dumbarton before he was signed by St Mirren in 2017. As mentioned earlier on, Joe McKee has signed for the sons this window following his release by Falkirk. Former bairn, Ryan McGeever is likely to start in central defence for Dumbarton too.
